Precious metals in the aerospace industry

The aerospace industry relies heavily on a wide range of materials, including precious metals such as platinum, palladium, rhodium, silver and gold which have immense significance in various components and parts, to produce aircraft and spacecraft.

These precious metals are used for their exceptional properties, such as high conductivity, corrosion resistance, and catalytic activity.

  • Platinum, for example, is used in the production of jet engine parts, where it is essential for its ability to withstand high temperatures and corrosive environments.
  • Palladium is used in aircraft spark plugs and in fuel cells, while rhodium is used as a catalyst in aircraft engines.
  • Gold is often used as a coating for electrical contacts, providing a high level of conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Precious Metals also used in: electronics (PCB), connectors, relays & wires, high pressure nozzles, high pressure turbine blades (platinum coating, guide vanes, gold and palladium brazing alloys, full nozzles, full lines and heat exchangers.

Cookson Industrial is able to offer you a wide range of alloys or pure metals in various forms: strips, wires or tubes, used in the manufacture of products for the aerospace industry.

We can also develop customised products tailored to your needs.
