Vacuum Deposition

PVD (physical vapor deposition) is a process of coating an item with another metal. The two main methods of carrying out this process are by sputtering or evaporation deposition.

The process is performed in a vacuum, which coats the desired item in a highly adhesive and consistent layer, as little as 1 micron thick. Sputtering is carried out taking metal from high purity sputtering targets which some in a range of different shapes, and grain or slugs of metal can be used for evaporation.

This process is used for a variety of different applications including communications, optical storage, electronic coating, solar energy and semi condictor industries, among others.

Cookson Industrial is able to supply you with the high-purity metals you need to manufacture these coated metals in various forms and alloys (precious and non precious).

We can also develop customised products tailored to your needs. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
