Vacuum deposition is a process of coating an item with another metal. The 2 main methods of carrying out this process are by sputtering or evaporation deposition. The process is performed in a vacuum, and coats the desired item in a highly adhesive and consistent layer, which can be as little as 1 micron thick. Sputtering is carried out taking metal from high purity Sputtering Targets which some in a range of different shapes, and grain or slugs of metal can be used for Evaporation.
This process is used in industries using high tech parts, such as oil & gas, semiconductors, electronics, optical, photovoltaic, to name a few.
